If you’re thinking about visiting Italy in June, you’re in for a treat. This month is packed with lively festivals that celebrate everything from beautiful flowers to medieval traditions and world-class arts. So, whether you’re a nature lover, history buff, or culture junkie, there’s something for everyone. Here are three of my favorite June festivals happening in Italy!

Infiorate di Spello: A Flower Wonderland

When: June 21-22, 2025

Where: Spello, Umbria

Imagine walking through a town with streets covered in colorful flower carpets — that’s what happens at the Infiorate di Spello. For this event, over 2,000 locals come together to create incredible mosaics out of more than 15 million flower petals! The petals are carefully chosen and used either fresh or dried to make stunning images.

And here’s a fun twist — this year, you can even join in the fun as an “Infioratore per un Giorno,” which means you get to be a flower artist for a day! It’s a fantastic way to experience Italy’s floral artistry up close and personal as in the photo above.

Bevagna Mercato delle Gaite: Step Back into Medieval Italy

When: June 18-29, 2025

Where: Bevagna, Umbria

Want to feel like you’ve traveled back in time? The Bevagna Mercato delle Gaite is a week-long festival that re-creates life in medieval Italy. The town’s four districts, called Gaite, go all out with competitions, street performances, and markets that look just like they did hundreds of years ago.

You can browse stalls with handmade crafts, watch 13th-century blacksmiths and paper-makers at work, see medieval cooking competitions, and even try your hand at archery. It’s like stepping into a living history book — super fun and totally immersive.

I was lucky enough to visit Bevagna's La Cartiera, a 13th-century paper-making factory. It was there that I learned about the centuries-old tradition of turning cotton into paper, watched the ancient stone mechanisms doing their work , and heard about this fascinating Medieval Festival.

Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi: Arts and Culture Galore

When: June 27 - July 13, 2025

Where: Spoleto, Italy

If you love performing arts, the Spoleto Festival dei Due Mondi (Festival of Two Worlds) is a must-see. Since 1958, this festival has been bringing together amazing artists from around the world for two weeks of music, opera, dance, theater, and visual arts. It’s a vibrant celebration of creativity and culture, right in the heart of Italy.

And if you’re in the US, don’t worry — you can catch the sister event, Spoleto Festival USA, in Charleston, South Carolina, from May 23 to June 8, 2025. It’s a great way to experience the festival’s magic closer to home!
